Subject:House for sale - $15,000 OBO - 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths
Posted by:purealto.
Time:12:57 pm.

We are selling a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath manufactured home in Mason.  Not far from MSU - take 127, College Road, or Hagadorn straight into campus or use the CATA bus route. Very quiet and clean community with neighborhood pool, playground, and sports field access.  Gas & groceries just around the corner, and still close to the city and malls. Tons of closet and storage space, and all appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, fridge) stay. Several updates throughout, including new roof, paint, newer carpet, wallpaper, and front door (to name a few).  Lots of energy-saving and energy-efficient updates (we cut our utility bills down something fierce).  A wonderful home overall - we are sad to leave it but have accepted jobs in metro-Detroit and need to be out by the end of August.  For more details and photos, please visit our website.  Feel free to comment, email, or call with questions or to set up a tour.

Crossposted to a few Lansing-based LJ communities,  my apologies if you've seen this message already.

To everyone looking for a new place to live:

Bower Co-op, located near the post office in Lansing, at Abbott and Saginaw, has TWO immediate openings. Bower is a vegetarian/vegan co-op, offering a meal plan, single rooms, an amazing recycling program, and for less than $450 a month, you can live at this wonderful house.
You can check out and apply at the SHC website (msu.edu/user/coop) Call for a house tour or find out when our next potluck is and just stop by. EVERYONE is welcome at Bower, regardless of whateverwalk of life you are. The only rule is that you must be a student at either MSU or LCC.

I'm very sorry if anyone receives this message multiple times, but we just want to get the word out to as many people as possible.

So I'm in the main library right, on the first floor, stressed to all hell because I'm sick and have a lot of shit due, including research for a paper due Thursday morning. All of a sudden, I just happen to look up and three dudes run down the main aisle way streaking. Butt ass naked. Straight out the door. Out to West Circle Drive. All I can say is wow.

Subject:Kiss My Gender Drag Show!
Posted by:riverriot.
Time:3:45 am.
***Please Forward Widely***

Lansing, MI – On March 31st, starting at 10:00 PM, a progressive and politically-focused drag show will take place at the Temple Club. The show is called “Kiss My Gender” and is organized by Drag King Rebellion (DKR), a local drag troupe that combines pop and dance routines with a radical political message. Although “Kiss My Gender” is organized by DKR, the show features 15 other performers from Lansing, East Lansing, Detroit, Flint, and even New York. All proceeds from the show will be given to “Via Campesina,” an international solidarity movement focused on assisting communities of fisher folk and peasants in their own Tsunami relief and reconstruction efforts, as well as other progressive organizations.

When: Thursday, March 31st, 10:00PM – 2AM

Where: The Temple Club, 500 E Grand River Ave, Lansing, 48906 (A shuttle will run from the MSU Union to the Temple Club throughout the night free of charge)

Why: To raise money for Via Campesina, challenge gender stereotypes and raise other important social justice issues, and have fun while doing it

What: A progressively political showcase of talent and activism, all wrapped up into one amazingly fun night!

DRAG KING REBELLION is a drag troupe based in East Lansing, MI. They decided to organize “Kiss My Gender” as a way to link the drag community to other local communities, as well as to show case Michigan talent and contribute to a grassroots community-empowerment organization. In addition to DKR, other performers, such as Jonah Thomas, Alayna Angel Kennedi, Azziza Infiniti, Tom Follary, and Asher Stone will be there.

“’Kiss My Gender’ was born out of the idea that drag shows can not only be a form of entertainment, but also a vehicle for social change. By using art, such as song, dance, and performance to comment on various issues, we are hoping to present people with a fresh way of looking at things,” said TJ Jourian, organizer of Kiss My Gender and member of Drag King Rebellion.

“I’m expecting a fun-filled night where we can all play with assumptions about gender and also learn a lot about important social justice issues,” said Staci Gunner, an MSU Student.

Say No To Sweatshops!
Rally for Workers Rights!

March 18th, 2005
John Hannah Administration Building
Michigan State University

On March 18th, 2005, Movimiento Estudiantil Xicano de Aztlan (MEXA) and
Students for Economic Justice (SEJ) invite you to a day of protest in
support of workers' rights. We are in the final stages of a 5 year
campaign for Michigan State University to Join the Worker Rights
Consortium (WRC), a labor monitoring body working to ensure that MSU
clothing is not made in sweatshops. 9 of 11 Big Ten Universities and 135
Universities total are already members of the WRC, and with your help, MSU
will be next.

We will be having a final meeting with the President of MSU about this
issue on March 18th, the rally will be on the same day. At this point we
believe MSU will join the WRC but what is in dispute is what MSU's WRC
code of conduct will look like. the code is the legal document behind
the WRC that holds companies accountable for where and how their clothing
is made. Our administration wants to join the WRC with a code that is
weak and ineffective. MSU's membership in the WRC must be accompanied by
a strong code of conduct. Our membership has to actually mean something
more than good PR for MSU.

Join us for what will hopefully the final days in the campaign for MSU to
join the WRC.

Hi Guys,

I don't post in here much so I apologize that this post is a little off topic.  But I figure, I have a sweet deal to share with fellow MSU students.  You know those people that always stand by Wells Hall giving away free t-shirts if you sign up for a credit card?  Well....

this is like that only 1,000 times better.

free computer

I work for an internet company and I know for a fact this is legit.  You just signup, complete an offer, and you can get a free computer.  With this new computer, you can do all your MSU homework fast and efficiently (HAHA) or use the 80GB harddrive to download tons of music (much more likely.)

Anyhow, just wanted to share.  Hopefully no one is mad that I posted this here.

Don't freeze walking to class!!

Subject:crazy rumor O heard about Saturday's game
Posted by:quiet_daisy.
Time:9:24 pm.
So I heard this crazy rumor that a bunch of students are planning on boycotting the Homecoming game this weekend because of the new tailgating regulations. Has anyone here heard anything about this? is anyone planning on participating? I haven't noticed anyone mention it on the community so far so I thought I would just come out and ask. I don't have football tickets at all to begin with (nor do I intend on buying any this weekend from any boycotters) I was just curous how many people were planning on getting involved, since football seems to be pretty huge around here.

Time:5:15 pm.
I thought i'd make a community specifically for freshman/first year students, ya know to ask questions and just get into the swing of things.

Go check it out, join, and ask questions if it applies to you. Don't be afraid to ask questions there, hopefully some upperclassmen will keep an eye on it to asnwer questions and stuff too? So join and meet some fellow freshman, make some new friends, and figure out what the hell you're actually doing...

Subject:Music Therapy
Posted by:starbucksmaniac.
Time:3:50 pm.
Does anyone have any information about Music Therapy @ MSU?

And how hard is it to get in, and what's the average GPA, and SAT or ACT scores, etc.

Are there any classes that you'd reccomend I take in high school that they generally like to see?

Your advice is much appreciated!

Probably a major reason my MSU community pales in comparison to the one created a year and a half after it...I've been meaning to post this for days.

Also, I'd like to ask everyone who reads this to take in an extra whiff of lilacs for me. Rice U has honeysuckle which is nice but it's just not quite the same.
